Our Message Remains the Same: DREAM Act Now!
(WASHINGTON)—Kica Matos, spokesperson for the Fair Immigration Reform Movement, FIRM, issued the following statement after Reps. Aguilar, Denham and Hurd announced the bipartisan “queen-of-the-hill” rule:
“Millions of undocumented young adults have been in limbo for more than seven months as a result of Trump’s cruel move to end DACA and racist-wing Republican obstructionism. The ‘queen-of-the-hill’ rule will allow a vote on the DREAM Act—the only solution to the chaos caused by this administration. People’s lives are on the line. Tens of thousands of young immigrants have lost their DACA, their lifeline to work and go to school; it allowed them to live their lives without fear of deportation. Too many have been separated from their loved ones.
Our position has been clear from the beginning: allow a vote on a clean DREAM Act that does not sacrifice families in any way. It’s an election year, and it’s time Paul Ryan listen to the American people. Our base is ready to support our champions and reject the elected officials who deny us our right to live out our dreams.”
